| 3:00 pm | New Products and Pressure Regulation - RainBird |
|
A well-designed irrigation system requires an optimized volume of water which is applied uniformly over a specific area. The pressure regulator's role in this system is to maintain the manufacturers specified performance by limiting excessive inlet water pressure to constant outlet pressure. Pressure regulating devices are available to be installed directly inline in the pipe, at any remote control valve, and directly in the emission device - spray head, rotor or drip emitter. In this discussion, we'll discuss each application and how they are unique in their respective pressure regulating abilities. We'll also take a quick look at the new products being released from Rain Bird in 2023. |

| 1:45 | Lethbridge College - Soil Moisture Interactive Workshop |
|
Lethbridge College, the Potato Growers of Alberta, five potato producers are wrapping up a 4-year CAP research project that investigated potato yield variability caused by soil moisture variability and the potential to manage that variability through precision irrigation. In this project we collected large amounts of soil moisture observations. These observations and other analyses from the project form the basis for the workshop. In 1.5 hours we will cover what type of sensor to use, where to place your sensor(s), and how to interpret the results to inform irrigation management. This workshop is open to everyone with an interest in irrigation management; having variable rate irrigation or soil moisture sensors or growing potatoes is not a prerequisite. However, participants need to select a field from their operations to investigate during the workshop. |

Our partners include producers, irrigation technology businesses, irrigation districts, and other academics. |
