President’s Message

CPCIA2021 Education Week, Training

Covid-19 has brought challenging times for us mentally, physically and financially in 2020. I hope each and every one of you has experienced success in some form, and have made adjustments to adapt to the protocols in place.

The CPCIA has also been affected by the uncertainty and regulations in place, and with the Chapter and membership’s best interests in mind, the CPCIA board of directors have made the decision to cancel 2021 Education Week, scheduled for January 27 to 29, 2021.  We are dedicated to long term success and will continue to focus our time and effort into creating value for our members despite this setback, and look forward to welcoming everyone back to Education Week in 2022!

To assist in providing ongoing irrigation education virtually, the Irrigation Association has created Education Week +.  This is a virtual event that includes the IA University, weekly webinars and more!

IA University – the IA is offering their core curriculum virtually from November 30th through December 4, 2020.  Choose from Golf & Landscape, Agriculture, Landscape Business Basics courses and sign up for a free Math Tutorial!  Visit IA University page for a list of courses, dates and pricing.

Industry Insights – attend weekly landscape or agriculture webinars from October 2020 – April 2021 on a variety of topics that are relevant to the every changing world of irrigation.  Choose topics that are right for you and earn CEU’s!  Visit the Industry Insights page for topics, dates and prices.

If you are looking take an exam for a certification, we always encourage our members to take advantage of computer based exams offered through the Irrigation Association.  Register online through IA at any time.  If you prefer a paper and pencil exam,  Calgary Learning Institute is open and available to be a proctor for Irrigation Association exams.  Registration for exams must still be through the IA.  Visit the online registration page for more details.

Stay tuned for more information on our Annual General Meeting, which will be held in early 2021.  Like you, we are looking forward to being able to come together and share our experiences.

I wish all of our members, their families and employees a safe and healthy winter. Please take care of yourselves and we will see you all soon. We thank you for your continued support.  If you have any questions, comments or ideas I can be reached at president@cpcia.ca

Sincerely,
