EPA to Develop Draft Specification for Sprinkler Heads

WaterSense released a notice of intent (NOI) in May to develop a specification for landscape irrigation sprinklers in order to address and promote outdoor water efficiency. The specification will apply to both components of sprinklers: high-efficiency nozzles and pressure-regulating bodies. The NOI describes EPA’s intent to establish performance measuring criteria for both components separately and estimate water savings through quantifiable methods by collecting existing data or analyzing designed field studies. WaterSense is also requesting additional data or studies to support research needed for the development of a specification. All interested parties should submit comments and data to watersense-products@erg.com by July 28, 2014. Learn more about the NOI on the WaterSense website.
